Frazier's Homestead

Trail Ride December 10, 2011

Please join us at Frazier's Homestead for a fun-filled weekend!

Equi-Trek Trail Challenge Association will be sponsoring a trail ride at Frazier's Homestead located in Central (right outside Baton Rouge, Louisiana)

Come help bring this great sport to Louisiana!

Saturday there will be a 5 - 6 mile ride at Fraziers Homestead, where you can enjoy your horses on a great piece of property. Great riding trails lead you through lovely woods and open pastures with access the nearby Comite River.

6-8 MILES * 6 JUDGED challengeS

Great prizes and ribbons, 1^st – 6^th Place for all Divisions

Pro * Advanced * Novice * Junior * Peewee * Trail-in-Hand (3-mile)

All divisions $25 ride fee, Companion Riders $15, Grounds fee per rider $10

Registration 7am – 9am * Ride Briefing 9am * Ride out 10am – 11am * Awards Ceremony 2pm (est)

Come for the day or stay the night. Accommodations for both you and your horse available!

Amenities include primitive camping (generators allowed), hotels within 7 miles of the facility if you prefer and there are a few stalls available, book early! (Generators are allowed, Horses can be kept at trailer in primitive camping area at no additional cost)

In addition to the ride on Saturday, Equi-Trek is fortunate to be able to have an accomplished AHA Certified Barefoot Hoofcare trimmer come to the competitive trail ride on Saturday, December 10 at Frazier's Homestead in Central, La

Marie Daniels began her "barefoot journey" about 8 years ago when her TWH mare was having hoof problems. She discovered Pete Ramey's natural hoofcare method and his website, hoofrehab.com, which led her to join the American Association of Natural Hoofcare Practitioners. During her training period, she mentored with many different barefoot professionals in Canada, Colorado, Minnesota, Georgia, Nevada, Washington and Texas. She is a graduate of several of Dr. Elenor Kellons nutritional courses and also her course on deworming and on reading radiographs. Last year she was certified with the American Hoof Association, and she is currently the only certified Barefoot Trimmer in Louisiana

She will be speaking on the basics of barefoot hoof trimming. She will also talk about equine nutrition and the effects nutrition has on the hoof. She will answer any questions people have about their horses. She will then be trimming a few horses using the "Natural Hoofcare" method

If you are interested in listening and learning about barefooting your horse, please sign up. Whether you get your horse trimmed or not, I promise you will learn a wealth of important information on how to keep your horse and his feet healthy. The cost is $10 per person
